Choosing Laser Safety Glasses Glasses for Holmium lasers

Holmium lasers operate at a wavelength of 2080nm which is often written as 2100nm.  Laser safety glasses for Holmium lasers come in many different shapes and sizes however the filter types are either made from a polycarbonate lens or a filter glass lens.  The main differences between the two options are polycarbonate lenses are lighter and lower cost and the filter glass lenses and have much higher visibility and clarity.  Both options are chosen by surgeons however the filter glass lenses are more popular due to the improved visibility which is desirable under operating conditions.

The LG-080 Holmium laser safety glasses shown in the below link are the most popular option.  They use a filter glass lens so have almost clear visibility and work well with or without prescription glasses underneath.
