When working out the most appropriate laser safety glasses to use with green and red visible alignment lasers, a precise calculation of OD (Optical Density) is required to provide a balance between protection and visibility.
For example if you have a 635 nm red laser with 10mW power then an OD of 1.5 will cut the laser down by around 30 time taking it to the equivalent of a 0.3mW laser which is eye safe. While 0.3mW will be visible in normal indoor lighting conditions if there is sunlight this may not be enough power so a lower optical density maybe required.
The LG-006 and the LG-007 shown below provide protection against visible alignment lasers. Feel free to contact one of our laser safety experts on 1300 411 337 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org for assistance.
