When selecting laser goggles for use with Class 4 lasers it is essential to use laser safety glasses with a high level of protection. Usually Optical densities of the order or 5 , 6 or 7 are used.

L ratings are also important for use with Class 4 lasers as these determine the suitability of the laser glasses to withstand a dirtect hit from the lasers.
