When protecting against 1064 nm from Q switched YAG lasers it is desirable to have a high OD 7 level of protection as well as good visibility. The LG-228 and LG-228N use a new style of polycarbonate lens with neutral colour so it provides an almost clear visibility.  Normally the clear lenses were made out of glasses which was relatively heavy when worn over long periods of time.

They are fully certified to Australian laser safety standards with L ratings, wavelengths, ODs and VLT (Visible Light Transmission) marked on the lenses.
