When selecting the laser protective glasses for use in Australia its important to make sure they are fully compliant and certified to the relevant laser safety standards.
In Australia laser protective glasses are required to be marked with L ratings , wavelengths (nm), optical densities (OD) and visible light transmission (VLT).
L ratings are used to work out how long the glasses can withstand a direct hit from the laser, the optical densities determine the attenuation of the laser at a particular wavelength for example an OD 4 at 650nm will cut down laser light at 650nm by 10,000 times.
