Laser Safety in Cosmetic and Aesthetic Clinics

Laser and IPL systems are widely used in cosmetic and aesthetic clinics for procedures involving skin treatments, pigmentation, and hair reduction technologies. Because these systems emit concentrated light energy, appropriate eye protection is an important part of clinic safety procedures.

Different cosmetic systems operate at different wavelengths. Common examples include Alexandrite lasers at 755nm, diode lasers around 810nm, and Nd:YAG lasers at 1064nm.

Laser safety glasses used in these environments are designed to attenuate the wavelengths generated by the treatment system. IPL eyewear may also be used for broadband light protection depending on the application.

Many clinics use protective eyewear with lightweight frames, fit-over designs, and adjustable arms to improve comfort during extended use.

Understanding wavelength compatibility and selecting eyewear appropriate for the treatment device helps support safer operation in cosmetic environments.
