Why Laser Safety Glasses Have Different Lens Colours

The colour of laser safety glasses is determined by the filter technology used to attenuate specific wavelengths.

For example, eyewear designed for blue lasers may use amber filters, while filters for infrared lasers often appear green, grey, or nearly transparent.

Although lens colour may provide a general indication of the filter type, it should never be used to determine whether eyewear is suitable for a particular laser.

Instead, users should always verify the wavelength range, Optical Density, and safety ratings printed on the product.

The technical specifications remain far more important than the appearance of the lens.
